Honestly I didn’t actually apply for the Kajian Sastra dan Budaya Program (KSB) or English Literary and Cultural Studies Program. After my Bachelor in Management, I came from Senegal, and in my mind I should do my Master in English Literature instead of this program. The first semester passed, I found very interesting the KSB Program and the fact it was an interdisciplinary study which combine several aspects such as Philosophy, Anthropology, Literature and Cultural Studies all within the same degree. Since that time I never looked back to change even there is no link with my Bachelor Degree. I was so fascinated by the lectures, discussion group, presentations… Before I started KSB Program, I joined the Bahasa Indonesia classes that’s helped me a lot because in this faculty whatever you are a foreigner student you will study in Indonesian Language for doing the assignments, exams or thesis.
This program helps me to have an analytic process in things specially in cultural fields with different disciplines that I learned and would be able to get now a large choice of future study options and career perspectives. KSB Program made me so fascinated for understanding more the world around me. I was really happy and blessed to join the KSB Program of one of the greatest University in Indonesia I mean Airlangga University, to interact with very nice people who willing to help me always as they can, specially the lecturers who gave always their best for us. I got in depth knowledge a broad overview within all aspects of literature and culture world. It was a challenge for me as a foreigner student to study within Indonesian language and get my degree within 3 semesters. Sure it wasn’t easy but because of friendly classmates and approachable lecturers, I accomplished my goals and make me realize that Literary and Cultural Studies gave me greater knowledge that light me to what I would like to do or realize in my real life.
Greater experiences I got in this department of Airlangga University will help me to realize great things everyday and I am so proud to be an alumnus of this great KSB Program. DAHSYAAAAAAT!
The Cultural Studies program in the Faculty of Humanities of Airlangga University is designed not just to provide students with a Master degree but a wealth of skills and experiences that they can apply towards their career path.
